Dry season is when there is virtually no rain in Tanzania so the animals tend to congregate in certain areas within the parks. This is also the season when the wildebeest migration crosses the great Mara river in the Northern part of Serengeti
This is the season for long rains and this makes the grass greener in all parts of the parks. This gives way to the animals being more dispersed during these months.
Starting in November most parks begin to get the ‘small rains’. This lasts through December and are not as severe as the long rains. The wildebeest migration at this time can be found in Southern part of Serengeti and Feb is the most guaranteed time to see big herds of wildebeest calving.
